Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie | The Review

dsc08863

Let me tell you… I was actually surprised with how well this product turned out. I didn’t know much about the brand Happy Skin, all I literally knew was that it was a Filipino brand with excellent branding. Initially, I kind of had a bad notion of local beauty brands by not being so up to par with international drugstore brands, which made me not so keen on getting it in the first place. But this product really changed my mind!

The lippies on the photo above are from the Preview X Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie Set. The two shades in this box are Too Cool(nude) and Hot Stuff(dark berry). The two are very contrasting shades when put side to side but are equally lovely side by side.

When I first received this(it was a gift[add link to post]), I was already so eager to try it, so I did. And to my surprise, it was pretty darn amazing. Upon initial application, it glided smoothly on the lips very well and settled comfortably.

What I was so WOW-ed about was that it was moisturizing and stayed on for a good amount of time, even after a meal or too. How is that even possible?! In the few times that I have worn this during the holidays, my lips never felt dry what so ever because typical matte lipsticks have that effect.

A little bird told me that Happy Skin products are made in Taiwan, Korea, but most of them are produced in Japan and packaged in the Philippines. No wonder they are such impressive products!

Too Cool is a great nude shade to have in your lippie collection! Aside from nudes being everyone’s favorite shade, it noticeably lasts pretty long on the lips! Hot Stuff reminds me of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Kate Moss Lipstick in 107 and I can’t believe I am saying this, but I think this one is better!

Aside from getting this on their website or at their counters in selected malls, you can readily grab this online on Zalora!

Wet N’ Wild Lipsticks | First Impressions

IMG_5972

Wet N’ Wild lipsticks are notoriously known to be very budget friendly, great quality and available in many colors. Did this bunch live up to all that hype?

I got these Wet N’ Wild Silk Finish Lipsticks as a set through a LIP Year Sale on BeautyMNL.com last February as I was searching for the perfect bright red lipstick as one does. This set of three come from the Silk Finish Collection. And it is pretty silky all right!

I honestly didn’t have high hopes for the Berry Frost shade because light pink hues aren’t really my cup of tea. But the other two were definitely my taste. Lets just say that these two shades, Hot Red and Just Garnet felt like it costed more that just P45.00($0.99).

Skipping the Berry Frost shade, the shade Hot Red was definitely one of the better reds of my purchase. It wasn’t too sheer or opaque. For the record, it was just right! As for the shade Just Garnet, I really liked this one because of its mauve-y grape shade. It reminds me of a less intense Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 107, which I don’t mind collecting more of.

As for the packaging, just your standard, nothing innovative or flashy. Just the usual drugstore see through plastic cap. But the characteristic-scientific word! that differs this from the my previous review on another drugstore lipstick was that it didn’t have any strong clay smell to it, which made it much more bearable to wear.

Final Thoughts? Wet n’ Wild does a great job of providing products on the cheaper end of the spectrum without discounting so much on quality.

LA Colors Lipstick | First Impressions

IMG_5967 copy

I don’t want to be a debbie downer but I just got to say that these LA Colors Matte Lipsticks aren’t the best drugstore lipsticks out there that I have tried. This was my very first time trying the LA Colors brand and it was well, alright. I got a really good deal for these four shades during a sale on beautymnl during their LIP year sale.

I know it sounds kind of crazy to hoard 4 lipsticks at one time but trust me it came out really cheap in the end. So the main reason why I snatched so many of these was because I was actually because I was searching for the best drugstore bright red lipstick and sadly, I did not find it in this purchase *sad face*.

I honestly had high hopes for the two reds that I picked up, Matte Cranberry Red and Jazzy Red, because it looked so red on the tube. But much to my disappointment, they turned out really sheer and not even RED! It had more of a pink-purple tone. Although it was still a good shade but it really wasn’t what I was looking for.

The shade petal is a nice light nude that wasn’t on the pink side. While for me, the shade Matte Brown Sugar was the winner of the batch, which I wasn’t really expecting. It is a really rich brown shade. I can imagine me sporting this with a top bun and huge sunnies-typical!

The packaging was nothing special, really. Well, for the price, I shouldn’t be complaining. I find though that the product smells like clay and kind of chemical.

Final Thoughts? Well, I do admire this brand for catering to the more budget end of the makeup spectrum, but I wouldn’t want to wear this on a daily basis because it might dry out my lips in the long run. So was it generally worth the price? Yup.
